Nutrition: Foods
Here’s some information I’ve picked up here and there about specific foods. If you can add another food or more information about a food that’s already here, e-mail nutrition@pybateman.org.

Yogurt
from Group Health’s magazine
An excellent source of calcium, protein, and vitamins.
  1. Supports bone strength
  2. Fights osteoporosis
  3. Reduces risk of developing high blood pressure
  4. Supports new growth and maintenance of cells

GHC dietitian Rhoda Litvin-Keller recommends live-culture (microflora) yogurt with calcium and vitamin D: “Microflora is especially helpful for people who are suffering from lactose intolerance, constipation, diarrhea, colon cancer, H. pylori infection, and inflammatory bowel disease. It helps keep balance in the body and can build the immune system by fighting off unwanted bacteria.”
